For the pirate in all of us its Tall Ships Time! Jeff and I were on hand with many onlookers as the ships majestically entered the harbor, complete with cannons firing. You could hear the crew ‘man the yards’ they say from the water’s edge as they worked in unison to bring the ships into harbor.
Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain really are something to behold and remind us of a special time where the ocean really was an uncharted frontier. The ships are touring up and down the California and Oregon coast from now until June.
They’ll be in the Ventura Harbor until Valentine’s Day and you’ll love all the events they have planned. Jeff and I and our families will be partaking in the Battle sale this Saturday, there’s also an Adventure Sail and the very popular sunset sail. For you land lovers there are many opportunities to go dockside and get an up close look at both magnificent vessels.
When you’re not busy hoisting the main sail make sure you check out the many great shops and restaurants in the Ventura Harbor Village sure to shiver your timbers.
Until then folks may your anchor be tight, your cork be loose, your rum be spiced, and your compass be true.
Full schedule of all the events can be found here: http://www.historicalseaport.org/public-tours-sails/sailing-schedule/
